How does this trading/selling thing work?
Stylus Honolulu is primarily a resale shop, meaning we will pick through your unwanted clothing and music, select choice items we think we can sell quickly, and make you an offer in cash, or DOUBLE your cash value in exchange credit, to trade for items in the store.

What kinds of items are you looking for?
The overwhelming majority of our clientele are hip and thrifty college students, and resourceful twenty- and thirty-somethings looking for stylish bargains. As far as clothing, we want trendy, fashionable items that appeal to a youthful demographic. Before we take a look at your clothing, we simply ask that your items be clean and stain-free, with all buttons and zippers attached and working. Music-wise, we’re interested in many types of vinyl records and music-related DVDs.
We thank you for understanding that we must be very selective with the items we trade for, so as to maintain a quality inventory for everyone and to continue flourishing as a small independent shop!
How much will I get in return for my stuff?
Unlike high-end consignment shops that make you wait until your items sell before paying you, Stylus Honolulu will give you cash on the spot, or, if you prefer, we will happily DOUBLE your cash value in exchange credit, giving you TWICE the purchasing power to TRADE for thousands of cool new or recycled items in the store!
Because you receive TWICE the value, trading for exchange credit is the most popular transaction method among our customers. There is no expiration date on Stylus’ trade certificates, so you can keep coming back to pick out new items at your convenience!
80% of our merchandise is priced at UNDER $10, and we will generally offer you between 20% and 50% of what we’d sell each item for (or double that amount in trade credit). For items that are unworn or unopened, or with original tags attached, we are quite willing to increase our offer.
Do you also take expensive designer merchandise?
Because our prices are much more in line with thrift shops than high-end boutiques, we recommend selling your high-ticket and/or designer items on eBay or Craigslist first, where you can place your own value on your goods. However, if that doesn’t pan out, or if you don’t want to go through all the hassle, we’ll be glad to have a look at them.
Again, our prices are super-low, so keep in mind that neither of us is likely to get rich off a single buy/sell transaction!
When can I bring my stuff in?
Our buying hours are 11 am to 7 pm, Monday through Saturday only. No appoinment is necessary.
